Dangote Officials Confirm Gasoline Progress on Tuesday

REFINING

Dangote refinery officials have confirmed a number of sources led stories by various news outlets this week reporting that the refinery was getting ready to export gasoline by the end of the week.

  • The gasoline reformer responsible for gasoline production recently went into operation.
  • “Our PMS (Premium Motor Spirit) can be in filling stations within the next 48 hours, depending on NNPC,” Dangote said on Tuesday.
  • NNPC, Nigeria's sole importer of gasoline, will buy its gasoline exclusively.
  • At full rates, the refinery is expected to be able to produce about 330,000 barrels a day of gasoline but Energy Aspects pegs production at around 90,000 bpd by the end of Q4 – rising to 250,000 bpd in the second half of next year.
  • NNPC reported earlier this week it is facing gasoline shortages because finance issues leave it unable to purchase enough imports leaving many of the nation’s fuel stations dry currently.
