Deputy President Mabuza Reiterates Govt Has No Intention of Privatising Eskom.

SOUTH AFRICA
  • Mabuza told the National Council of Provinces on Thursday that he unbundling process was going well, but the privatisation of Eskom was not on the table.
  • Mabuza also told the House that the investigation into the explosion at Medupi was ongoing - urging members of Parliament to wait for Eskom to conclude the investigation before any action was taken.
  • Says It is still the government's intention to scale up energy generation to avoid loadshedding. Notes SA has been battling loadshedding for many years, but it was now time to get the coal-fired power stations working and that the explosion at unit 4 at Medupi would not deter the government from doing its work.
