Economy Minister Caputo To Meet IMF’s Georgieva At G20 Today

  • Economy Minister Luis Caputo and central bank President Santiago Bausili will participate in the G20 ministerial meeting in Sao Paulo today. Caputo will also attend a panel on economic policies to address inequalities at 1245GMT(0745ET), followed by a panel on global prospects for growth at 1745GMT. He will also meet with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on the sidelines of the G20 finance ministers meeting.
  • In other news, Argentina’s airline union is due to start a 24-hour stoppage today, continuing the recent spate of strike action in the country. Separately, the Governor of Chubut province, Ignacio Torres, said that he will stand down from the threat to cut off oil and gas supplies after a court ruled that the federal government should release funds to the province. Earlier this week, Chubut province had threatened to withhold oil and gas resources from the government in response to Milei’s move to hold back 13.5 billion pesos in tax transfers from the province.
