Germany’s economy minister Robert Habeck suggested on Tuesday to introduce subsidies to stabilise the country’s power network fees according to Reuters. 

  • The subsidies would be paid through a supplementary budget for 2024, Habeck proposed.
  • "This is not a permanent, systematic answer, and it is needed ... But it would be a short-term measure for 2025, which could still be technically implemented, for example, through a supplementary budget for 2024," Habeck said.
  • Habeck is likely to face issues to achieve a majority following the collapse of the coalition government.
