Electricity Min Expects Lower Stages Of Loadshedding Into Weekend

  • The African National Congress (ANC) is looking to meet with a delegation of Hamas leaders currently visiting South Africa, drawing the ire of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies. However, Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni could not confirm the presence of Hamas' delegation in South Africa and said that the government had no plans to meet them (albeit she did not rule it out), while DIRCO's Clayson Monyela said that there would "absolutely" be no such meeting at the DIRCO.
  • Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa expressed confidence that loadshedding would be reduced into the weekend, while also noting that a new generation capacity plan would be announced soon. Eskom is currently implementing Stage 3 loadshedding until 16:00SAST as the utility was able to ease power cuts.
  • South Africa's November Absa Manufacturing PMI will cross the wires at 09:00GMT/10:00CET. The index may have slipped to 45.0 in November from 45.4 prior, according to a Bloomberg poll.
