EU Gas Storage on Track for Target by End of August

NATGAS

Total European stores on track to reach target well ahead of the coming winter with stores already up to 77.39% full on June 30 according to GIE. Net injection rates have risen back up near normal in recent days to keep stores well above the five year average of 67.35% full.

  • Net injections rates increased again last week to just 6.9% below normal in the week to June 30 compared to 19.9% below the previous week. Injection rates edged back above normal on June 29-30.
  • Net injections averaged 3,312GWh/d in the week to June 30 compared to the five year average for the period of 3,557GWh/d.
  • Injection rates have averaged 27.7% below the previous five year average since the start of April and a continuation at this rate would bring European storage up to the EU target of 90% just before the end of August.
  • Storage in Germany is at 201.1Wh (81.3% full), Italy at 164.5TWh (82.2%), Netherlands at 98.6TWh (68.5%), France at 87.7TWh (68.0%). and Austria at 83.6TWh (83.2%).
