EU Gas Storage Withdrawals Below Average Since 9 December

EU gas storage net withdrawals stood below the 2018-2022 average since 9 December, while month-to-date withdrawals remain above the five-year average.

  • Net storage withdrawals on 1-13 December averaged 4909.7GWh/d, above the five-year average of 4,669.6GWh during the same period.
  • Above normal temperatures have limited withdrawals in recent days. Net stock withdrawals stood at 3949.8GWh on 13 December, below the five-year average of 5839.8GWh/d for the same day.
  • Weather forecasts for NW Europe are suggesting above-average weather for the remainder of December which is likely to limit above-average withdrawals.
  • European natural gas storage was down to 89.74% full as of 13 December, well above the five-year average of 79.09% according to GIE data.

    • TTF Q1 24 down -3.1% at 34€/MWh
    • TTF SUM 24 down -3% at 33.97€/MWh
