EU Slam Hungary, Poland Decisions to Ban Ukraine Grain Imports

  • Agriculture Minister Istvan Nagy said on Saturday that Hungary is banning imports of Ukrainian grain, oilseed and other farm products until June 30 to allow time for a "rethink" of EU measures that have resulted in a glut on local markets. The EU strongly criticised the move, which has also been undertaken by Poland, saying “unilateral actions” were unacceptable and a potential breach of trade policy.
  • South Korea will send a delegation to Hungary, Poland and Slovakia this week to discuss ways to boost economic and trade ties with the respective countries, the Korean industry ministry said this morning as reported by The Korea Times. In Hungary, Korea will sign the Trade and Investment Promotion Framework (TIPF) with Budapest, a non-binding agreement that calls for enhanced economic cooperation and the facilitation of bilateral corporate exchanges.
