EU Winter End Gas Stocks Expected Near Five Year Range High

European gas storage is on track to finish the winter heating season near the top of the five year range.

  • Current total European storage is 65.22% full at 730.75TWh compared to the five year average of 45.08% full according to GIE data. The current withdrawal rate is today slightly below normal at approximately 5,170GWh/d.
  • Based on the withdrawal rates from the last ten years the European stocks are expected the end to winter heating season at the end of March between 0.43% and 0.61% full.
  • The countries with the largest gas storage volumes are Germany at 177.91TWh (72.16% full), Italy at 125.53Wh (64.89%), Netherlands at 89.47Wh (64.39%), Austria at 69.43TWh (71.77%) and France at 68.74TWh (51.45%).
