Europe could still be hit by a natural gas shortage this year, the IEA says.
- The supply gap could hit 40bcm if Russia cuts all deliveries, LNG shipments are tight and weather boosts demand.
- This is the EIA’s worst-case scenario – they do not see a shortage in base case scenarios.
- The IEA highlights four key exogenous risks to the European gas market this year: Russia cuts more supply, China’s LNG appetite returns, global LNG supply outages and next winter is cold.
