US DATA: Feb Personal Income, Jan PCE Preview - 08:30 ET/12:30 GMT
---------------------------------------------------------------
- February personal income is expected to rise by 0.3% based on both the
Bloomberg consensus and MNI survey following a 0.1% decline January. A 0.4% gain
hourly earnings is expected to offset the shorter workweek and soft payrolls
gain. Additionally, a rebound in return on assets, which drove the January
decline, is expected.
- January current dollar PCE is expected to rise by 0.3% by both the BBG and MNI
surveys, as suggested by a rebound in retail sales in the month. The PCE data
lag by a month due to after-effects from the shutdown, but should be caught up
next month when both the February and March data will be released.
- January core PCE prices are seen flat by the BBG survey and up 0.2% by the MNI
survey. Either way, the year/year rate will remain at or below the 1.9% rate set
in December
