HUNGARY: Finance Minister Mihaly Varga has criticised the EU's COVID-19 recovery
package, saying in a statement that the plan is unfair towards Hungary and
should take into account that the plan could place extra pressure on smaller
economies in Eastern Europe with little leeway in their fiscal policy.
- The Hungarian gov't has been a vocal opponent of Brussels for a number of
years now, and PM Viktor Orban's administration is likely to require changes to
the recovery package to secure its passage. 
- Budapest has argued Hungary and others like it should not have to put their
taxpayers on the hook for richer but more indebted eurozone member states.
