EUROZONE DATA: Flash HICP (Oct 2019) Preview - 1000GMT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
- HICP (y/y): Bbg Consensus: 0.7%; Previous (Sep): 0.8%
- Core HICP (y/y): Bbg Consensus: 1.0%; Previous (Sep): 1.0%
- Oct inflation is forecast to weaken to its softest pace since Nov 2018, as
energy price growth is likely to moderate.
- Core HICP is expected to remain at Sep's level, showing an uptick to 1.0%.
- Inflation cooled to 1.0% in Jul/Aug before it slowed further to 0.8% in Sep.
- Sep's downtick was mainly driven by a sharp deceleration of energy prices,
which was the only category to reveal a negative rate.
- Available state data suggests a steady reading -- headline HICP growth
remained unchanged in Spain at 0.2% and Germany at 0.9%.
- The flash composite PMI report notes that selling price inflation remains
subdued, registering the smallest increase since Nov 2016.
 - The subdued demand environment results in firms choosing to sacrifice profit
margins rather increase prices.
