IRELAND: Following Brexit Secretary, David Davis claiming that the Brexit
breakthrough agreement was not a binding agreement and was instead more of
statement of political intent, the attention is back on Ireland with the border
issue unresolved.
- Ryan McGrath at Cantors in Dublin writes "The UK's preference is that the
border problem is solved through a future free trade agreement between the UK
and EU or some other sort of UK authored solution. Failing either of those,
there is a scenario where the Northern Ireland Executive could, of its own
accord, decide to do move independently. The Irish Government responded to David
Davis weekend comments by stating that the Brexit deal was "binding" and it
would hold the UK "to account" on it"
