France Must Continue To Reduce Gas Use: Grid Operator

Efforts to curb natural gas consumption must continue so that storage sites can be filled up ahead of winter, French grid operators GRTGaz and Terega said in their Summer Outlook.

  • The need to replenish stockpiles will mean import entry-points are used near maximum levels, given the disruption of Russian supply, it said.
  • Refilling storage facilities by the end of October is possible, though there’s little margin, the reports said.
  • The outlook does not take into account the potential effects of ongoing strikes. LNG imports into France in March were down around 0.9mn tons from February levels amid strikes, ICIS said.
