Persistent nuclear reactor outages and planned strike action at EdF’s sites in France are expected to push nuclear output to historic lows this month.
- French nuclear reactor availability is expected to average 43GW this month, S&P Commodity Insight’s Sabrina Kernbichler said.
- Nuclear generation averaged 44GW in February last year and 45.1GW in February 2021, RTE data show.
- On Wednesday, EdF issued two further 24-hour strike notices for 6 and 10 February, which is likely to weigh on reactor availability.
- Peak power demand on 6 Feb is forecast at 71GW and at 74.6G on 10 Feb, RTE data show.
- French nuclear reactor availability stood at 44.24GW on Thursday morning.
