French Regulator Urges Gas Saving Despite 99% Full Storage

French gas storage is 99% full ahead of winter the energy regulator said today.

  • Despite full storage, the regulator warned that consumption would still need to be cut from prior years to navigate a potentially difficult winter.
  • The regulator said suppliers had constituted a total of 130 terawatt-hours of gas reserves. The figure represents about two thirds of private citizens and small and medium-size companies' winter gas consumption. That figure does not cover industrial consumption.
  • France is relying on Norwegian gas imports, LNG flows and European neighbors gas exchanges to make it through winter.
