Some oil tanker earnings have climbed above $100k per day amid Red Sea chaos, according to Bloomberg.
- Refined product shipments from the Middle East to Japan rose by 3% on the day Jan. 25, according to the Baltic Exchange, the highest level since 2020.
- A voyage from the Middle East to Europe also costs between $97k-117k per day, depending on the vessel size.
- One ME-Europe route was the highest rate since the Baltic Exchange began publishing in Sep. 2022
- Attacks by Houthis in the Red Sea and subsequent diversions around the Cape of Good Hope have caused tanker rates to surge due to longer voyage times.
