German Product Demand Rises on Supply Concerns: Argus

OIL PRODUCTS

German demand for heating oil and fuels has risen sharply in the past week, amid concerns for supplies from the Middle East and falling domestic prices, Argus said.

  • Gasoline demand surged particularly in the Emsland and South regions, while Middle distillates were primarily traded in Rhine-Main and Southwest.
  • Argus said that some German consumers were pushed to refill their storage due to concerns that the Israel-Iran exchange of drone and missile attacks could escalate and disrupt regional supply.
  • Some product prices have also fallen across Germany, boosting buying interest. There were below average product prices at refineries in Karlsruhe and Neustadt-Vohburg.
  • The 310k b/d Karlsruhe sold volumes of heating oil a discount wider than 2 cents (Euro)/l compared to the national average.
  • Gasoline at the 216k b/d Neustadt-Vohburg refinery was sold at a discount of almost 6 cents/l to the national average, Argus said.
