POWER: German Spot Power to Decrease
POWER
The German spot power index is expected to fall with forecasts for higher wind and lower demand. German February power is trading higher Tuesday morning amid forecasts for low wind output for later this week and next week and gains in EU gas prices.
- Germany Base Power FEB 25 up 2% at 112.35 EUR/MWh
- EUA DEC 25 down 0.3% at 79.16 EUR/MT
- TTF Gas FEB 25 up 1% at 48.32 EUR/MWh
- ICE UKA Dec25 up 12.9% at 39.95 GBP/MT
- TTF edges up from a low of €47.6/MWh yesterday with support from a reduction in Norwegian pipeline supply and slightly cooler weather into the coming weekend. This follows bearish pressure at the start of this week with the return of the US Freeport LNG terminal and Norway's Hammerfest LNG plant and from lower storage withdrawals.
- EU ETS December 2025 allowances are trading lower Tuesday morning, diverging from moves in EU gas prices. The next EU EUA CAP3 auction will clear today 11:00CET.
- UK ETS prices, in contrast, are rallying this morning with FT reporting the UK’s PM is looking to relink the UK and EU emissions trading schemes.

- The latest 6-10 day ECMWF weather forecast for Dusseldorf suggests mean temperatures have been slightly revised lower with temperatures above normal until 30 January before falling slightly below the average until 7 February, when temperatures are forecast to rise again.
- Mean temperatures in Dusseldorf are forecast to decline to 7C on Wednesday, down from 7.9C on Tuesday and above the seasonal average of 3.1C.
