GOLD: Gold is up around $0.70 at $1,285.78 in Asia, making a mild push higher
after remarks from Trump at a rally in Arizona. Trump said he will shut down the
government in order to build the border wall. Trump's speech will have also
raised the hackles of Democrats who oppose the wall, he said that Democrats who
oppose the wall were putting the safety of Americans at risk and asserted that
"one way or another we are going to get that wall".
- Gold rose around $3/oz to a session high of $1,286.80 before settling back
down slightly.
- Gold fell on Tuesday as risk on sentiment gained a foothold with gains in
global equities and US$ pressuring the yellow metal lower.
- Markets now look ahead to the Jackson Hole conference where comments from
Fed's Yellen and ECB's Draghi are expected over the next few days.
- MNI technical analysis sees support $1280.6 - Hourly support Aug 21, $1293.9 -
High Aug 21. Fresh 2017 and 10mth highs Friday lacked follow through but the
bounce from ahead of $1277.7 saw bulls reconfirming dominance and pressure
remain on 2017 highs.
