Gov't Signs Agreement With Healthcare Unions, Unemployment Stays At 3.5%

  • Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Health Minister Vlastimil Valek will hold a press briefing to discuss a wage agreement ending a nationwide doctors' protest. Lidove Noviny reported that the government was supposed to set aside CZK9.8bn to boost the salaries of hospital staff next year.
  • iDnes reported that Fiala's ODS party has asked its members to promote the government's successes amid what it seems as misleading media coverage. The party compiled a list of "100 proofs that you voted correctly" and requested members to circulate it on social media.
  • Czechia's unemployment rate stayed at 3.5% in November, in line with expectations. The number of vacancies fell 1,788 to 278,708. Continued tightness of the labour market is one of the key hawkish risks for the CNB.
