Government Considering Decree to Help Lower Corporate Energy Costs

  • Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s administration may pass a decree to overwrite private contracts between small- and medium-sized companies and utility providers to lower their costs and help slow inflation, according to local newspaper Vilaggazdasag. Citing Laszlo Parragh, the head of the Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the newspaper said the decree may be approved within a week.
  • Hungary is counting on South Korean companies when it comes to battery manufacturing, Economic Development Minister Marton Nagy said after meeting executives of South Korean companies as per MTI. Hungarian industrial policy with a focus on the electronics industry and battery production was the focus of the talks.
