Growth Downgrade Could Be On The Cards

The IMF said will be revisiting India's growth forecast in its upcoming World Economic Outlook in July, as downside risks materialize in the form of coronavirus. The situation in India continues to deteriorate, but there may be a relief on the horizon. A model prepared by advisers to PM Modi suggests the peak of the outbreak could come in the coming days. The unfortunate caveat is that the same model was incorrect last month. Mumbai municipal commissioner announced that seven more drive-in vaccination centres will be set up within in the next 24 hours. India has accelerated its vaccination drive and has now given 162m inoculations.
