High Court Dismisses Application to Stop State Capture Report Handover to Ramaphosa

SOUTH AFRICA
  • Judge Avrielle Maier-Frawley has struck Democracy in Action’s urgent bid to stop Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo from handing the first State Capture Inquiry report to President Cyril Ramaphosa from the roll - with costs.
  • Maier-Frawley says DIA case has been dismissed for “self-created urgency”.
  • She has also granted a punitive costs order against DIA, after the State Capture Inquiry argued that the case was “frivolous”, “shoddy” and an abuse of the urgent court.
  • She will provide written reasons by 10 January
