Houston Channel Reopens to Outbound Ships

The Houston ship channel has reopened to outbound traffic following dense fog, according to Moran Shipping, cited by Bloomberg.

  • The waterway connects multiple Gulf Coast refineries and crude-export terminals.
  • The channel reopened for outbound traffic for vessels leaving after 12:30 local time (18:30 GMT). It closed yesterday evening.
  • It is unclear when inbound movement will be restarted, Bloomberg said.
  • The port of Freeport closed at 11:45am, while the Port of Galveston and Texas City have been closed since 2:30 local time Jan. 22.
