Hungary to Restock 47.8l to Diesel Reserves This Year

Hungary plans to start replenishing its strategic oil reserves in 2022 after releasing a significant share earlier this year to ease supply shortages according to a statement from the state secretary in charge of energy issues, Attila Steiner.

  • Hungary plans to return 47.8m litres of diesel into the reserves this year. Under the current regulations the strategic reserves have to be replenished by 1st April 2023.
  • In August the government approved the release of 184m litres of diesel to ensure domestic fuel supplies which equated to 38% of the country’s strategic reserve.
  • The government will announce further tenders to restock the remainder of the oil reserves.
