POWER: Iberdrola Leads 2024 European PPA Market With Over 1GW Signed

Iberdrola was leading the PPA market in 2024, signing PPAs for 1.251GW of capacity in 2024, up by 38% on the year, it said. 

  • In Iberia, the firm signed PPAs with Auchan, Burger King, BP, Grespanaria and others for a combined capacity of 900MW.
  • In the UK, Iberdrola signed PPA’s for around 170MW, including with Amazon.
  • In Germany, the firm signed three PPAs with Telefónica, Saltzgitter and Schwenk Zement for more than 100 MW.
  • Spain continued to be the leading destination for PPA deal-making, with disclosed contracted volumes reaching a total of 4.66GW, Pexapark data showed.
  • In 2024, 15.2GW of disclosed contracted volumes were announced in Europe, up by 11% from 2023 levels.
