ICE Brent Net Longs Hold Near Feb Highs

OIL POSITIONING

ICE Brent crude managed money net long positions maintained the recent strength to hold just below the highest since Oct 2021 on 14 Feb according to Commitments of Traders data released on Friday.

  • ICE Gasoil positions showed a small increase on the week but are still near the lowest since late 2020.
  • The CFTC market positioning data is still catching up from the delays seen in February but data for 7 Feb showed Nymex WTI net longs relatively steady since August.
    • ICE Brent net longs increased by +9k to 286k. (28 Feb)
    • Nymex WTI net longs increased by -10k to 175k. (7 Feb)
    • ICE Gasoil increased by +5k to 39k. (28 Feb)
    • Nymex diesel fell by -9k to 13k. (7 Feb)
    • Nymex gasoline fell by -10k to 58k. (7 Feb)
