India Pulling Record Volumes of Russian Crude December

India brought in a record amount of Russian oil last month at 1.2mn bpd according to Vortexa – 29% higher than November and 33 times more than a year earlier.

  • Russia is now the largest supplier of oil to India, overtaking Iraq and Saudi Arabia a couple of months ago.
  • Other than Urals, Indian buyers have also stepped up imports of Russian grades like Arco, Sakhalin and Varandey in recent months.
  • Oil purchases from Iraq climbed 7% in December from the month prior to around 886,000 bpd, while those from Saudi Arabia increased 12% to about 748,000 bpd, according to Vortexa.
