Ireland 20y preview (Apr-41 IGB)

EGB SYNDICATION
  • Yesterday, Ireland released a mandate to launch a new 20-year IGB via syndication with the transaction to take place in the "near future."
  • We expect the transaction to take place today and note that the bond will have a maturity of 22 April 2041.
  • This will be the second syndication of the year for Ireland following the 10-year sale on 5 January which saw E5.5bln sold from books of E40bln.
  • Last year, before the pandemic, was the last time Ireland held a syndication for an issue in excess of 10-years on 8 January 2020 when a 15-year issue was launched for E4bln with books of E20bln.
  • We would expect today's syndication to raise in the region of E4-5bln.
  • Joint lead managers: Barclays, BNP Paribas, Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland, Danske Bank, J.P. Morgan and Nomura.
  • Timing: The January 2021 transaction saw books open at 7:55 (2020 range: 7:50-8:20) with an update provided at 9:30 (9:10-9:45). The spread was then set at 10:20 (9:45-10:45) before books were closed at 10:45 (11:00-11:15). Final terms were released at 12:30 before pricing at 15:02 (14:36-16:16). All times are local and UK.
