Israel/EU Gas Deal Due to be Signed Today

Israel and the EU are set to sign a gas export deal today according to Israel’s Energy Ministry.

• The President of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen has been in Israel this week, helping to negotiate the deal as the EU looks for alternative gas sources to move away from Russian supplies.

• Gas is expected to be sent to Egypt via pipeline, where it will be liquified and then sent on LNG vessels to Europe.

• The framework deal will be signed by Israel, the EU and Egypt, according to the Israeli ministry.
