JKM Premium Over TTF Could Persist: Kpler

LNG

JKM is currently trading at over a $2/MMBtu premium to the European benchmark TTF, despite industrial action at the Australia’s LNG terminals being paused on Sep. 22.

  • The price spread between the regions remains amid lower competition for cargoes from Europe, and an elevated JKM price, Kpler said.
  • Surging tender activity and low Japanese LNG inventories could hint at a winter demand spike in Asia, which would keep APAC as the premium market and leave JKM at a premium over TTF, Kpler added.
  • LNG stockpiles held by Japanese utilities fell by 1.89% on the week to 1.56mn tons as of 24 September.
  • JKM Oct 23 up 1.6% at 14.54$/mmbtu
  • JKM-TTF Oct 23 up 0.4$/mmbtu at 2.37$/mmbtu
