US TSYS/RESEARCH: JPM economist Jesse Edgerton asked, "How fast can the tax bill

become law?"

- "At this point, the House and Senate have both passed a tax bill and have both

voted to create a "conference committee" to iron out the differences between the

two bills," he said. "Once the committee produces a compromise bill, the bill

must again be passed by both houses to be sent to the president and signed into

law. It seems to us that the differences between the two bills are not so large

that the chambers cannot find common ground, and thus it seems quite likely that

some version of the bills will become law."
