- Metal and motor vehicle industries drive July decline in sales.
- Decline in motor vehicles was due to a temporary shutdown at a major 
plant to support the production of a new model.
- Sales fell in 11/21 industries, representing 67% of total.
- Total factory sales excluding motor vehicles -1%.
- Inventory-to-sales increased to 1.54 in July; the highest since June 
2009.
- Total inventories increased 0.3% in July, vs -1.3% in June, led by 
transportation and chemical industries. 
- The capacity utilization declined 4% to 77.3%; the lowest rate since 
January 2017. 
- Ontario and Alberta showed the largest decline in sales.
