Kashagan Cuts Extend Further After Gas Leak

OIL

The giant Kashagan field in Kazakhstan has extended its production cuts because of a gas leak according to Bloomberg sources.

  • Crude production has now dropped by 170,000 bpd. The initial cut when the leak was first found was 100,000 bpd.
  • The extent of the leak is expected to take several more days to find.
  • Kazakhstan’s production of crude and a light oil called condensate was 1.67 million barrels on June 1, down from 1.76 million barrels on May 30 and 1.86 million barrels on May 19.
