Kuwait's Al-Zour Refinery Second CDU Set for Q2 Start

Kuwait is set to bring the second 205k b/d CDU at its giant al-Zour refinery online in the second quarter of this year according to Argus sources.

  • The third and final unit at the refinery is expected online in the fourth quarter.
  • Kuwait has spent tens of billions of dollars on developing and building new refineries in recent years and will help to fill the fuel gap in Europe when Russian oil product flows cease February 5.
  • Kuwait is expected to increase the shipments of diesel to Europe fivefold this year versus 2022 to 2.5 million tons, or approximately 50,000 barrels per day according to local news. Kuwait also aims to double its jet fuel volumes towards Europe.
