FOREX: Late night emergency European Council summit re: Brexit continued into
the early part of today's Asia-Pacific session and concluded with the EU27's
agreement to delay Brexit until Oct 31, with a review of progress scheduled for
June. Sterling virtually ignored the news, as an extension to Art. 50 has
already been priced in.
- The Aussie has underperformed, as risk appetite has been tepid, even as the NY
hours saw U.S. Tsy Sec Mnuchin say that the U.S. and China have agreed on the
trade deal enforcement mechanism.
- CAD has dropped a few pips vs. most of its G10 peers, as WTI has ticked lower,
while JPY has also struggled somewhat.
- G10 crosses have generally stuck to tight ranges.
- Focus today turns to Chinese, German, French and Swedish CPIs, as well as
speeches from RBA's Debelle, Fed's Clarida, Williams, Bullard, Kashkari and
Bowman, BoC's Wilkins, as well as Riksbank's Ingves, Skingsley & Jansson.
