US TSYS: LBBW's Karl Haeling eyed the WSJ saying special prosector Mueller
impaneled a grand jury to investigate alleged Russian interference with US
election. "In the U.S., a Grand Jury is a legal body empowered to conduct
official proceedings and investigate potential criminal conduct, and determine
whether criminal charges should be brought," he said. "A grand jury may compel
the production of documents and compel sworn testimony of witnesses to appear
before it. It is typically composed of anywhere from 16 to 23 people from the
general population."
- He adds because "Mueller has called for a grand jury does not mean that
someone will actually be charged with any crimes" but "does suggest that
Mueller's Russia investigation is now moving forward at a faster, more formal
pace. And it does indicate that Mueller believes he has found enough evidence to
justify this new stage of the investigation now." He said this "should further
reduce the ability of the Trump Admin. to actually implement its desired
policies." But he said DJIA "only fell 37 pts" on news then "recovered 25 of
those pts" by Thurs close so "mkt expectatns for fiscal stimulus are very low."
