Legislative Push Still Needed Before EU Funds Secured

POLAND
  • DGP reports that Poland may not make the full submission for EU recovery funds by year-end due to ongoing issues with the judicial bill element of the legislation. Complications remain, with the government now set on alternative scenarios of merging two separate parliamentary motions early next year.
  • Separately, Cabinet office lawmaker Szrot said it’s difficult to say whether the bill will be amended, or an entirely new bill will be written as a compromise.
  • Inflation continues to pinch the consumer, with a survey in DGP finding 41% of respondents will spend no more than PLN 500 on Christmas dinner this year. Similarly, Rzeczpospolita see consumer electronic sales down 18.8% in October – an unusual decline given the World Cup and lead-up to Christmas.
  • Money supply data crosses later today at 1400 local time (1300GMT). M3 is expected to have risen 0.8% on the month and 5.9% year-on-year.
