The LNG industry has begun intensifying its lobbying efforts as the Biden administration is set to unveil new plans for environmental scrutiny, according to Bloomberg.
- The new regulations could be announced by the end of this week, according to Bloomberg.
- Any significant changes to how the Energy Department reviews licenses to export LNG could disrupt development of LNG terminals, hampering US export opportunities.
- The US is now the largest LNG exporter, but environmentalists are concerned the growth in the industry will create further emissions.
- However, the industry is looking to fend off overbearing regulation, emphasising that a cut in expansion will lead importers to turn to dirtier fuels such ss coal.
