Major Earthquake Disrupts Oil Flows, Refineries In Turkey/Syria

One of the most powerful earthquakes to hit the Middle East in years with a magnitude of 7.7 has disrupted some refinery operations and pipeline flows in in Turkey and Syria according to Bloomberg.

  • Turkey’s pipeline operator Botas halted crude oil flows to Ceyhan export terminal according to officials. There were no leaks detected on the pipeline.
  • In Syria the Banias refinery was shut following damage to the refinery which also resulted in oil leaks, state-run SANA news said.
