Manufacturing PMI Falls to 52.6, Industrial Production Data on the Docket

  • Russia will comply with START treaty on nuclear weapons limitations but won’t let US inspectors in to check on them, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said in Telegram post according to Bloomberg. As “arms control cannot be isolated from geopolitical realities,” Russia considers it “unjustified, untimely and inappropriate” to invite the US military inspectors to check its strategic facilities.
  • Russia’s S&P Global Manufacturing PMI fell to 52.6 in January from 53.0 in December, data released this morning showed. December industrial production data will be published at 1600 GMT/1900 local time (Exp. -3.1% y/y; Prior. -18.8% y/y), with weekly CPI data also on the docket.
  • Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak will take part in an online meeting of the OPEC+ Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee this afternoon.
