OIL PRODUCTS: Marathon Sees Record Yer for Products Demand in 2025

OIL PRODUCTS

Marathon Petroleum, the second largest US crude refiner by market value and the largest by processing capacity, expects 2025 to be a record year for refined product demand, its CEO said during its Q4 earnings call.

  • “In our system, gasoline year-over-year has been fairly steady, diesel up slightly” and “we’ve actually seen jet demand growth,” CEO Maryann Mannen said.
  • Marathon sees significant demand for exports to Laram and Europe, particularly for gasoline.
  • The company expects margins in H2 to widen as announced refinery closures offset recent capacity additions.
  • Marathon expects to see costs increase if the US continues with a plan to add tariffs on imported oil from Canada, adding that producers will bear the brunt of the price increases, followed by consumers to a less extent.
