Mexico needs to rethink its energy sector after the blackout caused by natural gas shortages from Texas, Finance Minister Arturo Herrera said in an interview with El Financiero newspaper.

  • Mexico needs to diversify origin of its gas so as not to depend only on Texas, above all by building storage terminals for gas reserves
  • Asked if he was concerned the bill reforming Mexico's electricity sector would cause uncertainty among investors, Herrera said he's concerned about any element that might do so, and that part of his responsibility is to explain the bill in discussion groups
