The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) will establish a new department aimed at boosting the private economy, according to Zhang Shixin, Deputy Secretary-General at the NDRC. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Zhang said the Private Economic Development Bureau will allow policy makers to better coordinate policies to develop the private economy and private investment.

Advisors and analysts recently told MNI authorities' efforts to boost the A-share market must be combined with broader support for the private economy. (See: MNI: China Must Address Investor Concerns To Boost A-shares - Bonds & Currency News | Market News)

Official data showed private investment fell 0.5% during the first seven months of this year. (See: MNI BRIEF: China July Production, Spending Slower Than Expected - Bonds & Currency News | Market News)
