MNI: Economy Under More Down Pressure, Grave Challenges: China

MNI (Beijing)
BEIJING (MNI) - The Chinese economy is slowing under increasing downward
pressure and uncertain external challenges, the National Bureau of Statistics
said in a statement on Friday.
"Pains from domestic structural changes continue to manifest, as the economy,
while stable, exhibits changes and slowdown," the bureau said.
Gross domestic product slowed to 6.5% y/y in the third quarter, down from 6.7%
in Q2 and 6.8% in Q1, according to the statement.
The leadership under President Xi Jinping has been faced with "exceptionally
complicated and grave international situations" as well as difficult tasks of
domestic reform, the bureau said.
