AUSSIE BONDS: MNI MARKETS ANALYSIS: Aussie Bills Weekly Update - August 23, 2019
- Bills have softened this week, backing away from recent extremes, alongside
local bonds & U.S. Eurodollars, with the whites generally underperforming.
- There was a lack of tier 1 local data, with the RBA's Aug meeting mins
headlining. While the bulk of the mins revisited topics that have been covered
in detail, either at the decision, or in Gov. Lowe's recent testimony, the final
paragraph provided an interesting twist. It referenced domestic & external
issues, noting "members would consider further easing... if the accumulation of
additional evidence suggested this was needed to support sustainable growth in
the econ & the achievement of the inflation tgt over time."
- 3-Month BBSW has edged away from last week's record lows. The 3-Month FRA/OIS
spread has settled a touch lower than at the close of business last week.
- RBA Governor Lowe will speak at the Jackson Hole symposium over the weekend.
RBA's Debelle will speak next week, with Q2 CapEx & completed construction work
headlining next week's economic release docket.
