MPC's Kotecki Sees Core CPI At +5% Y/Y This Year

MPC's Ludwik Kotecki told Biznes24 TV channel that he expects core inflation to average at +5% Y/Y this year. Note that Governor Adam Glapinski yesterday said that core CPI will be a key point of reference for the rate-setting panel.

  • Kotecki: "CPI will be subjected to strong base effects this year and it should not be the most important element guiding our decisions. What we should pay attention to is core inflation and it will be around +5% this year."
  • The official noted that while he does not expect the March inflation projection to change much, it might bring some information on what will happen to the real economy and what will be the implications for price pressures.
