Nation Considering Use Of BNDES-Held Petrobras Shares for Poverty Fund

(Bloomberg)Brazil is considering using Petrobras shares held by development bank BNDES to create a fund to fight poverty, a person from the economic team with knowledge of the matter told journalists.

  • The operation would be carried out within the process of migrating Petrobras to the so-called novo mercado, a segment of local markets that sets higher governance standards for companies, the person said, requesting anonymity because the discussions are not public. (BBG)
